Today’s song is Wake Owl’s “Wild Country”, a song which can be found on their EP of the same name. It is a stellar progressive Americana tune of sorts. The strutting drum beat, the subtle fiddle, the undertones of organ synth (listen real hard and you can hear them). The vocals are front and center, and for good reason. The lyrics are interesting, and make one want to sing along. Their is that x-factor to them; it’s universally accessible without being poppy. It has a slow build of sorts, but doesn’t deviate too much from where it began, again most of that emotion is contained within the vocals – and the addition of some quiet percussion.
All the instruments are undertone’d in a way, but within a well mixed song sometimes that’s just perfect.
