This week rock supergroup and all around badasses Tomahawk return with their first album in almost six years, ‘Oddfellows.’ To be honest it’s so exciting we felt compelled to feature a song from that album as song of the day, to coincide with the release. This song, “Stone Letter” was the first song audiences heard from the new album, as it debuted as a 7″ single for the Black Friday Record Store Day. Clocking in at a very precise 2 minutes and 49 seconds, it’s an exhilarating blast of hard rocking goodness.
Tomahawk’s “Stone Letter”
Lead by music mastermind Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle and countless other projects) and Duane Dennison (The Jesus Lizard), this is the most straight-ahead rock the group has sounded in a long time. The last time we heard the band they were playing trippy renditions of Native American spirituals. For those that enjoy Patton’s more rock-oriented releases, this is the most “mainstream” he’s sounded in years. In his own weird way, of course. But that’s why we love him.
