Chuck Ragan (of Hot Water Music) began The Revival Tour in 2008; loosely based on old-style folk musician gatherings a rotating ensemble make every night on The Revival Tour something special. Forget costumes and video screens, this is not a manufactured experience designed by choreographers and marketing executives, this is what true musicians dream of and what fans have long been looking for, a stripped down acoustic set of well-crafted storytelling songs.
This year marks the fifth of The Revival Tour, the spring dates and line-ups have been announced (for full information see www.TheRevivalTour.com) and it promises to be more of the same good stuff seen in previous years. Guests included Dan Adriano (Alkaline Trio and In the Emergency Room), Tommy Gabel (Against Me!), Cory Branan, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Ragan’s touring partners of late Joe Ginsberg and Jon Guant. More than just a bunch of guys with guitars every night of The Revival Tour is a collaboration of songwriters and musicians, every night a different show and every night is one-of-a-kind. All are welcome, the only requirement is that you bring two hands for clapping and two feet for tapping.
Tickets for the North American tour are now on sale and disappearing fast. The tour starts in early March down in Texas and takes a quick swing through SXSW before heading out on a two-month tour of the US.
