Artist: The Cure
Song: “Jumping Someone Else’s Train”
Album: Staring at the Sea
One of the most brilliant and enduring bands to emerge from the “First Wave/Dark Wave” scene in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Cure have being going strong for over 30 years. Since the beginning they have been creating emotional music with thought-provoking lyrical insight and irresistibly catchy melodies.
Today’s song is from their early years, and it’s a jaunty number with a danceable beat. One of the most propulsive songs of its period, it discuses scenesters or bandwagon jumpers in a cutting but clever way.Leave it to the Cure to use such an upbeat song for such an angry topic.
