Swedish rock/pop band The Cardigans formed in Jönköping in 1992, consisting of members guitarist Peter Svensson, bassist Magnus Sveningsson, drummer Bengt Lagerberg, keyboardist Lars-Olof Johansson and lead singer Nina Persson. While their debut album dropped in 1994, it wasn’t until 1995, with the release of their second album and the single featured here, “Lovefool,” that they reached international success.
Interestingly enough, the band has stayed together all these years, without a single member having to be replace — we can assume that the lyrics of the song weren’t directed at any of the fellow band members! After taking a 5 year break after a 2006 tour, the band got back together in 2012 for another round of concerts. The group has sold over 15 million albums worldwide.
