Album: Ordinaire EP
Originally a duo of roommates experimenting in their Chicago apartment, Stepdad of Grand Rapids, MI has come a long way from a simple idea between two friends. Formed in 2009, original members Ultramark and Ryan McCarthy recruited Alex Fives and Jeremy Malvin to create the four-man, electro-pop/indie force they are today. Only a year after their debut, Stepdad composed the theme for the online comic, “Axe Cop,” and began building a fan base of nerds and hipsters alike.
In April 2009, the band released their first EP, “Ordinaire,” which produced this single. “My Leather, My Fur, My Nails” is catchy, to say the least, with its bouncy beats and lively synth, similar to MGMT’s biggest hits. Although the clever lyrics tell the story of a selfish woman using her man, this song is upbeat and extremely addicting. You’ll have this tune bouncing through your brain and moving your feet all day.
