Soulive’s “Eleanor Rigby”

Song Of The Day

Artist: Soulive
Song: Eleanor Rigby > I Want You (She’s So Heavy)
Album: Rubber Soulive

This Saturday (October 15th) marks Soulive’s second annual Royal Family Ball at New York’s Terminal 5 which promises a special night of funk for those in attendance. In addition to performances by Soulive and Lettuce; special guests Roy Hargrove, Raul Midon, Pharoahe Monch, Rahzel, and the Shady Horns will also be gracing the stage.

To get you excited; we’ve chosen a live-recording of Soulive performing their take of “Eleanor Rigby” and “I Want You (She’s So Heavy),” both of which were featured on their latest studio album, Rubber Soulive. This video gives you an up-close impression of the main trio’s (Eric Krasno on guitar, Alan Evans on the drums, and Neal Evans on the kets) skills on their respective instruments as they take these Beatles classics and infuse them with funk and jazz. If that’s not enough to get you excited for this weekend and the tour that follows; here’s a link to Alan Evan’s latest mixtape Dusty Diamons Volume 1, which takes you on a journey though the band’s influences and many directions; free of charge!
