Artist: Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Album: Oh Come All Ye Faithful/ O Holy Night
Song: Christmas Eve and Other Stories (1996)
Now that it is officially Christmas season and the shopping that will ensue is upon us I figured why not get in the spirit as well? Today’s song comes from Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO), who make my favorite Christmas tunes. Ever since Cleveland, OH help put these guys on the map in 1995 and 1996 my whole family has been hooked. They have become a staple of the Christmas season at our house. While most are familiar with their song, Christmas Eve/Sarajevo from the TV commercial, they have 3 Christmas albums and two concept albums in their discography.
The song I chose is a combo song they taking two well-known Christmas songs that we had to sing in grade school concerts or plays and put them into one cohesive song. It is an instrumental song that features great musicianship across the board. They do have a bunch of male and female vocalists along with a choir. So I highly recommend checking their other stuff out. This song is off their first record, which is my absolute favorite album they have.
If you want something new and fun to do with your family this holiday season, I highly recommend checking out their live show. I have seen it 4 times and it is a lot of fun. Whether you are a traditionalist who likes orchestras, a rocker who likes solos, a choir fan who likes good voices or a technician who likes good lights and effects there is literally something in their show for everyone. You will see every type of fan at their show too! Just a great experience all around.
