Artist: Foo Fighters
Song: Times like These
Album: One by One
The Foo Fighters began as a solo project for Dave Grohl in 1994 after the dissolution of Nirvana. Grohl was offered a position drumming for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers but turned it down to convert from a drummer to front man of his own group. On his first album ‘The Color and the Shape’, Grohl was listed as the only permanent musician in the band before recruiting members for the album tour.
“Times like These” is the second released single from the band’s fourth album One by One. Opening with the dominant D chord, Grohl’s strumming quickly turns to a melodic riff surfacing over a solid base line accompanied by Grohl’s signature drumming style. The up tempo tune has a unique 3 bar chorus that fires a bold statement of “It’s times like these you learn to live again”.
