So I’ve been putting off today’s article since I woke up because I didn’t have any idea what song to use or an angle to work. My procrastinating led me to flipping through the channels and watching Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist on TV. In case you haven’t seen it, the movie is heavily influenced by indie bands, has a great soundtrack and is a pretty good movie overall. In the one of the many club scenes, Bishop Allen is performing in the background, which is band that I hadn’t thought about in a while.
Digging through my music collection to re-familiarize myself with the band, I stumbled upon Click, Click, Click, Click. The song is about a guy that gets his picture taken at a wedding with the bride and groom even though he doesn’t know them. He reflects on the fact that this picture with a total stranger in it will probably be on the new couple’s mantle forever.
I believe that the point that the band was trying to make is that random events or chance meetings may live on longer than you might imagine. Do you have a picture hanging up at home with strangers in the background? How many pictures to do other people have hanging up where you’re unknowingly in the background?
