It’s funny how Christmas music can be such a polarizing topic. Music lovers that are normally open to experiencing new music and have a “live and let live” approach to musical genres that aren’t their cup of tea get very vocal when it comes to Christmas music. Some people are traditionalists that love Nat King Kole, Bing Crosby and the Charlie Brown Christmas album by the Vince Lombardi Trio while others swear by more modern interpretations of the classics by Mariah Carey, Josh Groban, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Why does music about one of the happiest times of year cause such strong opinions?
In my experience, I’ve found that today’s Song of the Day is one of the most controversial Christmas songs ever and I have no idea why. Blue Christmas by Elvis Presley is a beautiful song and sung by one of the greatest performers of all time. How can that be a bad thing?
