Rancid’s “Cash, Culture and Violence”

Song Of The Day

Rancid’s Life Won’t Wait, released in 1998, brought about a flood of new fans of both Rancid, and punk music itself. Many diehards consider the album among the group’s best — if not on the top of the list — often citing the LP’s wide reach, experimentation, and genre blending as reasons for the album’s success.

Fellow punk-rocker and rude boy Dicky Barrett, lead singer of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, lent a hand on the track featured below, “Cash Culture and Violence.” The vocalist’s guttural, rasping voice works well with the message of the song, and is just another small aspect of what makes Life Won’t Wait such a classic.
