It seems lately the staff at OurVinyl have ants in our pants and we want to dance. To keep the beat going, today’s song of the day comes from the incredibly remix friendly modern day Radiohead. As they band has grown more electronic remixes have seem natural, so it was no surprise when they fully embraced it with their latest album.
It’s a remix of their fantastic The King of Limbs track “Give Up The Ghost.” Originally on the remix EP TKOL RMX 4, it eventually found on a home on the end of year compilation of remixes. If you like remixes that take a song into new territory by using moods already in the song and zeroing in on it, then the “Thriller Houseghost RMX.” is for you.
True to its name it has a nice haunting beat that falls somewhere between Witch House territory and something reminiscent of New Order. The rhythm stays steady for six minutes, with the vocals swirling up out of the glitchy haze, full of reverb and even more ghostly than Thom had ever recorded them.
Let’s not mince words though. It’s not a banging club anthem. It’s more of a head-nodding beat to listen to while driving through the city late at night, or while reading. It’s excellent soundtrack music for those quiet moments but still lively enough to keep you engaged.
