Weekends are a time for relaxing and having fun so here’s a song to listen to and just drift away in a fog of yesteryear. Pokey LaFarge’s “Central Time” is a perfect slice of early to mid 20th century blues, jazz and swing with a country boy twist. Just take a listen right here and try to not picture yourself in a rocking chair on a large porch sipping lemonade:
While Pokey and his band have been self-releasing albums since 2006, he’s seen substantially more press attention since catching the eye of fellow old time music enthusiast Jack White, recording a 7″ for Third Man Records in 2011 which was produced by White. Since then he’s only grown in popularity, playing music festivals across the US and Europe. This Tuesday Third Man Records will release a self-titled full length album from Pokey LaFarge, produced by Old Crow Medicine Show frontman Ketch Secor. This song is the opening track from that album, which is sure to be a fun summertime treat.
