Panda Bear may be the most well known of Animal Collective members, at least on a solo-project basis. After garnering critical acclaim with Person Pitch in 2007, Noah Lennox released Tomboy in 2011. For those who purchased the album on vinyl, a special download code was included in the package.
That code gave fans a full live set of Panda Bear’s, specifically his September 11th, 2010 show at New York City’s Governor’s Island. Spending the majority of the concert introducing his new material to fans before the album’s release, Panda Bear also played the song featured below, “Song for Ariel.” Using lyrics from Animal Collective’s “Guys Eyes,” a track from their 2009 album Merriweather Post Pavillion, “Song for Ariel” gives the lyrics a beach-inspired makeover. An upbeat, simplistic song, “Song for Ariel” induces a calming, hypnotic feel, washing away small worries and trivial stresses.
