Back Of The Rack

Welcome and thank you for reading Our Vinyl’s first ever “Back of the Rack!” This is our chance to bridge the gap between the fans and the strong, unsigned indie bands from all over the world. We would like to take the time to give these bands exposure and hopefully a boost to their fan base as well as give you the opportunity to hear some new music you may not have otherwise heard.

To download these great tracks click here and sign up on the most recent issue. Once a month we will send these tracks right to your inbox.

Anyway the first Monday of each month we will be releasing another version of BotR with some of the best unheard music from all genres. If you know of any particular bands deserving the recognition or really love a local band in your area, please let us know. We are always taking submissions for future releases. For our first month, we have six solid tracks of new music for you to check out. We hope you like them.

Band: Machines Are People Too
Song: I Get By

Website: http://www.machinesarepeopletoo.com

Formed in Chattanooga in 2009, Machines Are People Too is due to release their first album later this summer. No Te Vayas will feature “I Get By” and the other electro-dance grooves that have made them so popular in Tennessee. If you are in the area, go out and see them July 22nd at both the Miller Plaza Nightfall Concert Series or Market Street Tavern. New Order-like synth work over strong vocals and beats create a good time had by all. Go check them out.

This duo from New Zealand combines hypnotic vocals with mesmerizing rhythms to lure you into a place of peace and tranquility. Singer’s voice is smooth as velvet, yet vulnerable and raw. They have their first Christchurch show coming up July 10th at The Brewery.

Band: Farewell Milwaukee
Song: Always Be Your Man
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Genre: Americana/Folk Rock
Members: Brad Fox, Adam Lamoureux, Ben Lubeck, Kyle Magstadt, Aaron Markson

Band: My Enemy Complete

Website: http://www.myenemycomplete.com/

Obviously the hardest song of the collection, My Enemy Complete creates layers among layers of sonic power. Raw lyrics you can actually hear and complex mixtures of guitar, drums and electronic riffs make for a mind-ripping moment. Their self-titled EP is available and they will be playing in Baltimore at the Quarter on July 16th.

Band: Big Paper Airplanes
Song: Tonight, Tonight

Releasing their first full length album later this summer, Big Paper Airplanes produces a sound that was so popular in the 90’s when bands like the Gin Blossoms and Counting Crows ruled the airwaves. They will be playing the 9:30 Club in D.C. on July 23rd.

Band: Pilots & Errors
Song: Die 4 U
Location: Lexington, KY

Editor’s Pick: The one song that all members of the editorial staff voted for, Pilots & Errors channels Iron & Wine, Bon Iver and My Morning Jacket with the use of just an acoustic guitar. The album Broken Hearted Peoples is available now and P&E can be seen at Natasha’s Bistro & Bar in Lexington on August 3rd.
