If you were fortunate enough to get the now unavailable Stephen Street produced Exlovers 5 song EP “You Forget So Easily” in 2009, you knew that this London quintet were destined for bigger and better things than a one off EP.
Formed in late 2008 by singer and songwriter Peter Scott, Exlovers combine boy-girl harmonies with lo-fi guitars to create beautiful wistful indie-pop resulting in an instantly warming nostalgic 90s sound.
Three years later, Exlovers first proper release, “Moth” (on Young and Lost Club Records) was released June 18th in the U.K. — and it is a shoegazers dream come true. Recorded at Rockfield Studios, Wales with Demian Castellanos and Jimmy Robertson (Florence and The Machine, Big Pink) Moth sees Pete, Chris, Brooke, Laurel and Danny produce their most comprehensive and confident body of work to date.
The first single and accompanying video “Emily” is a swirling, airy mix of melodic guitars and vocal harmony resulting in the kind of layered depth one expects from seasoned acts such as My Bloody Valentine or even The Cure.
For now there is no official U.S. release date of Moth but definitely keep exlovers on your radar and check back with OurVinyl for the latest.
