Today’s song is a classic Celtic tune, in honor of today being St. Patty’s day. The Green Fields Of France is a well known Irish ballad about a man sitting next to a grave from World War I, and his thoughts make up the lyrics of the tune. It’s one of the best anti-war songs you can find. It was made famous, in part, by the memorable rendition from The Chieftains.
This version is sung from The Dropkick Murphy’s. So while we hope you are enjoying some Guiness and Jameson this weekend, be sure to also take notice of some of the other things we’ve inherited from the Irish, such as their touching folk music.
