Artist: David Lynch
Song: “Crazy Clown Time”
Album: Crazy Clown Time
Most of us know David Lynch in one form or another. Best known for his skill at directing creepy, odd, yet brilliant films such as Mulholland Drive, Eraserhead, and The Elephant Man, the artist has hardly limited himself to movies. Working in advertising, writing, painting, sculpting, and even trying his hand at meteorology, (that’s right, Lynch had hosted a weather show on his internet site for years,) the director turned anything-he-wants loves one aspect of art more than anything else: experimentation.
In comes Crazy Clown Time, Lynch’s first real solo attempt at music. The album, which was released November 8th, isn’t the first time Lynch has worked with music. Involved in the scoring of all of his movies, and often collaborating with a number of musicians, Lynch has, for as long as he’s been making movies, shown an interest in music. Now, finally, we get to see what the twisted mind that gave us Blue Velvet is able to create when sound is his medium of choice. Give it a listen and see what you think.
