Common Rider was the product of influential ska/punk band Operation Ivy’s split up. While some of the band would go on to start Rancid, Jesse Michaels would lead the way in starting up Common Rider, a new age hybrid of ska/punk/rock that no other band has been able to replicate.
Their first LP, “Last Wave Rockers” set the tone for what Common Rider would achieve, but it was their second LP, “This is Unity Music,” where the band comes into its own. With a bit better production and tighter, well conceived tracks throughout.
“Small Pebble” is one of many great tracks on the album, showcasing the band’s unique genre blending style and Michaels vocals. Check it out, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!
