Back of the Rack: Top 20 Songs of 2012

Back Of The Rack OV Picks

Whew… It’s been a heck of a year for us. Countless hours spent developing the new OurVinyl.Tv platform, relentless content creation, new partnerships, new offices, more video shoots than I care to remember, and TONS of great new artists included in our free monthly mixtape. In its second year, Back of the Rack brought you 129 free downloads from independent artists all over the world. I’m trying to figure out a way to effectively verbalize the awesomeness of this year’s collection, but I’m not entirely sure the english language can do it justice. Either that, or I’m just terrible writer (…probably the latter).

Anyway, we thought it would be a cool idea to pick out the top 20 songs from this year. The list is a combination of staff picks, as well as the most frequently streamed tracks from our Soundcloud page. Listen below!

We hope you enjoy the playlist, and continue to come check out our monthly ‘Back of the Rack’ mixtape. We seriously appreciate it more than we can express in words. Before you close this window, or move on to another article, I just want to make sure I mention one last thing…

Every month, you are given the opportunity to download these tracks for free. In other words, these bands are kind enough to share their art with you, and ask for nothing in return. I realize more and more artists are giving away their music for free nowadays, and that’s great from the listener’s perspective, but let’s all keep in mind, it was definitely not free for them to produce those tracks. They are giving away their music in an attempt to market themselves. So in return for your free download, we urge you to please share whatever artists you discover. Share their youtube videos, soundcloud links, or even our ‘Back of the Rack’ articles. It’s not a dollar amount, but it’s definitely a good way to repay these guys for their hard work!

Happy Holidays everyone! Thanks for helping us spread the word.
