Animal Collective generated such a cult following over the years that they have earned the reputation of legendary status in the indie world. 2009’s Merriweather Post Pavilion was a perfect album which combined their unorthodox sound and their finest, most accessible pop tunes yet.
Not only do members like Panda Bear and Avey Tare find success on solo projects, but each member of Animal Collective brings such different and uncommon elements to their group. The four members of the band are irreplaceable and unchangeable and they are a prime example of a band that might not be able to continue if one member gets lost in the shuffle.
Arguably their most popular and susceptible to a mainstream audience, My Girls was a single that attracted more fans from different crowds and musical preferences. The track’s psychedelic and dance-influenced sound beats through out the track, suggesting that Animal Collective are never dull whether it be on record or live in person.
